What triggered white settlers to migrate to “Indian Country” in Illinois in the first half of the nineteenth century?  Who exactly were the Potawatomi and the white settlers, and what factors affected their ability to cohabitate in northern Illinois, including DuPage County? How is genealogy impacted by the massive population change that occurred in this area, and what was the effect of the Potawatomi presence?

The DuPage County Genealogical Society is an incorporated, 501(C)(3) not-for-profit organization. Our focus is on providing education for genealogists and assisting in preserving and making available local records of genealogical interest. Our mailing address is P. O. Box 3, Wheaton, IL, 60187.
